The Rural Partnership at the TN Academy of Family Physicians’ Annual Meeting

More than 200 family physicians converged on Gatlinburg, Tennessee, October 28-31 for the 60th Annual Assembly and Scientific Program presented by the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians. Attendees received current information on a wide range of medical topics pertinent to the practice of Family Medicine. Topics ranged from The Patient Centered Medical Home in the Information Age to Prescribing Practices.

The Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) installed its 2009 officers under 2008 president, Dr. Lee Carter’s leadership during the annual president’s dinner. Dr. Reid Blackwelder and Dr. David Byrd were honored for distinguished service in 2008.

Gatlinburg’s beautiful fall leaves attracted more than 70 vendors to support the TAFP annual meeting, including The Rural Partnership, East Tennessee State University, The University of Tennessee and the Rural Health Association of Tennessee. Holding to tradition, the event culminated in a Halloween party for the children of the family physicians to trick-or-treat safely through the exhibit hall.
