The 14th Annual RHAT Conference

The Rural Health Association of Tennessee (RHAT) held its 14th annual conference, Rural Connections 2008: Health Partners in Concert in Pigeon Forge, TN at the Music Road Hotel and Convention Center, Nov. 19-21, 2008, with nearly 500 attendees.  The purpose of this year’s conference was to examine the rural connections that comprise a healthy community, with three core tracks: Rural Recruitention; Small, Rural, and Critical Access Hospitals; and Coordinated School Health

As a platinum sponsor of the conference, The Rural Partnership hosted the opening session luncheon and sponsored the Rural Recruitention sessions.  Rural Recruitention session highlights include “The State of Rural Health In Tennessee,” a panel including Beth Fuller (Tennessee Institutie of Public Health), Bill Jolley (Tennessee Hospital Association), and Cindy Siler (The Rural Partnership); and  “What Kind of Jobs are there after Residency,” by Dr. Kim Howerton (UT Family Medicine Residency, Jackson), Mark Watt (Dayspring Family Health Center) and Steve Clapp (Woods Memorial Hospital).
