Summit on the Future of Primary Care in Rural and Urban America
TRP’s CEO, Cindy Siler, attended HRSA’s Summit on the Future of Primary Care in Rural and Urban America August 10-12 in Washington DC. The meeting brought together our nation’s health care leaders to exchange ideas in addressing current and predicted issues on primary care provider workforce. (more)
“First to Contact…First to Contract”
On September 24, more than 70 attendees, from 32 states and Australia, at the National Rural Recruitment and Retention Network’s (3RNet) 14th annual conference in Albuquerque contemplated the depth of those words from Jerry Harrison, Ph.D., executive director of New Mexico Health Resources (NMHR). Harrison leads New Mexico’s healthcare provider recruitment and retention efforts. NMHR placed 69 physicians, dentists, and clinicians during fiscal year 2009. (more)
Awards Presented at The Rural Health Association of Tennessee Conference
Commissioner Susan Cooper, Tennessee Department of Health, presented the awards at the Awards Luncheon segment of RHAT’s 14th Annual Conference. Congratulations to all for improving the health and well-being of Tennesseans. (more)
TRP Sends Primary Care Residents to RHAT Conference
Seventeen medical residents, fellows, and students from ETSU and UT attended the RHAT conference as guests of The Rural Partnership, providing these new physicians with unique professional development and networking opportunites. At TRP’s residents’ dinner, brief presentations were made by Dr. Joe Florence, Dr. Kim Howerton, Dr. Keith Ellis and Dr. Tom Townsend. (more)
The 14th Annual RHAT Conference
The Rural Health Association of Tennessee (RHAT) held its 14th annual conference, Rural Connections 2008: Health Partners in Concert in Pigeon Forge, TN at the Music Road Hotel and Convention Center, Nov. 19-21, 2008, with nearly 500 attendees. The purpose of this year’s conference was to examine the rural connections that comprise a healthy community, with three core tracks: Rural Recruitention; Small, Rural, and Critical Access Hospitals; and Coordinated School Health. The Rural Partnership at the TN Academy of Family Physicians’ Annual Meeting
More than 200 family physicians converged on Gatlinburg, Tennessee, October 28-31 for the 60th Annual Assembly and Scientific Program presented by the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians. Attendees received current information on a wide range of medical topics pertinent to the practice of Family Medicine. Topics ranged from The Patient Centered Medical Home in the Information Age to Prescribing Practices. (more)
